The blocker to builder message is beginning to be adopted and shared by others in the data protection world; it’s been included in masterclasses in Maastricht, at a DPAS conference and as part of the Data Protection and Information Governance Apprenticeship.
How it started
At Privacy Space in November 2022, Clare Paterson and Luke Beckley joined forces to present on a new take on how we, as data protection professionals, need to think beyond the traditional remit and understanding of our roles; 'Blocker to Builder' was born!
The message has helped many people think about all the different skills we possess but underestimate, in relation to delivering and managing and advising on Data Protection requirements and programmes to truly both meet our obligations and drive the best value from the data processed.
We turned our talk into a blog post, and produced a prompt sheet to help you highlight your “builder” skills.
